Darbhanga, a cultural and economic hub in Bihar, has become the focal point of speculation regarding its inclusion in India's ambitious bullet train network. As the government continues its push to modernize railway infrastructure across the country, the question of extending high-speed rail connectivity to Bihar has sparked widespread interest.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, during a recent press interaction, addressed the growing demands for Darbhanga to be integrated into the high-speed rail project. Vaishnaw emphasized the government’s commitment to equitable development of rail infrastructure, stating, "The expansion of the bullet train network is being planned strategically, focusing on feasibility, demand, and regional connectivity. Bihar holds significant importance, and we are considering various routes that could benefit the state, including Darbhanga."

The minister acknowledged the role of Darbhanga as a key regional center, with its growing economic and cultural prominence. However, he highlighted that bullet train projects require extensive feasibility studies involving financial viability, land acquisition, and environmental assessments, which are currently ongoing for several proposed routes.

While no official announcement has been made, sources in the Ministry of Railways suggest that plans for extending high-speed rail to Bihar are under consideration, with an emphasis on connecting major cities like Patna, Muzaffarpur, and Darbhanga in the future phases of the project.

Residents of Darbhanga and nearby areas have expressed optimism, viewing the potential arrival of the bullet train as a transformative development for the region. Local businesses and political leaders have also rallied for the project, citing its potential to boost the economy and improve connectivity with major urban centers.

As India races towards a high-speed future, Darbhanga's inclusion in the bullet train network could mark a significant step in bridging the infrastructure gap between metropolitan and regional centers. Until then, all eyes remain on the government’s next move in this transformative journey.
